FCRA / ICRAA Notice: Background Check Disclosure

Village Haven LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company (Village Haven, Company, we, or us), operates a technology marketplace platform enabling households, families, caregivers, and independent service providers (collectively, Users) to connect and arrange services directly with one another.
Consistent with Village Haven's Community Standards & Safety Policy and commitment to promoting platform integrity, fraud prevention, and user safety, Village Haven may conduct identity verification and background screening for some or all Users, as permitted by applicable law.
This Notice provides legally required disclosure regarding background screening practices that may involve consumer reports or investigative consumer reports.
1. Disclosure of Consumer and Investigative Consumer Reports
In connection with your application for, onboarding to, or continued participation on the Village Haven platform, Village Haven may obtain information about you from independent third-party consumer reporting agencies (CRAs).
Such information may constitute:
- A. A consumer report; and/or
- B. An investigative consumer report;
as those terms are defined under applicable law, including:
- C. The federal Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA);
- D. The California Investigative Consumer Reporting Agencies Act (ICRAA); and
- E. The California Consumer Credit Reporting Agencies Act (CCRAA), where applicable.
Reports may include legally obtainable information such as:
- A. Identity verification data;
- B. Criminal history records and related public record information;
- C. Sex offender registry searches;
- D. Address history records;
- E. Motor vehicle records where relevant to services offered;
- F. Verification of professional licenses or credentials;
- G. Employment or education verification where relevant;
- H. Alias or prior name records;
- I. Sanctions or watchlist screening where permitted; and
- J. Other lawful background or identity-related records.
An investigative consumer report may include information obtained through lawful inquiries or interviews regarding character, general reputation, personal characteristics, or mode of living, where permitted by law.
Village Haven does not prepare or control such reports. Reports are generated by independent CRAs relying upon lawful sources, public records, and proprietary databases.
2. Purpose and Platform Context of Screening
Village Haven operates solely as a technology marketplace and does not employ, supervise, or control Users.
Background screening is conducted exclusively to evaluate eligibility for platform participation and not for employment purposes.
Reports may be obtained for lawful business purposes including:
- A. Determining eligibility to access or continue using the Platform;
- B. Supporting safety of households, families, and children;
- C. Identity verification and fraud prevention;
- D. Enforcement of Community Standards and platform policies;
- E. Compliance with applicable law or safety obligations;
- F. Maintaining marketplace trust and integrity;
- G. Evaluating access to service categories involving vulnerable populations; and
- H. Responding to complaints, safety incidents, or reported misconduct.
3. Timing and Frequency of Screening
To the extent permitted by law, background reports may be obtained:
- A. Before granting onboarding or platform access;
- B. Prior to enabling certain service categories or features;
- C. Periodically during participation on the Platform;
- D. Upon account reactivation following suspension or inactivity;
- E. When safety complaints or reports arise;
- F. When role or service offerings change; or
- G. When platform risk or compliance conditions reasonably require re-screening.
Village Haven does not guarantee continuous monitoring or real-time updates and does not represent that screening will occur at any particular frequency.
4. Limitations of Background Screening
Users acknowledge that background screening has inherent limitations, including:
- A. Public record databases may contain inaccuracies or delays;
- B. Certain jurisdictions restrict record availability;
- C. Identity matching may produce false matches or omissions;
- D. Not all criminal activity results in searchable records;
- E. Records may be expunged, sealed, or legally restricted; and
- F. Reporting agencies rely on third-party data sources beyond Village Haven’s control.
Accordingly, background screening results:
- A. May be incomplete or inaccurate;
- B. May not reflect recent conduct; and
- C. Do not guarantee user safety or suitability.
Users remain responsible for exercising independent judgment and taking appropriate safety precautions.
5. Platform Role and No Endorsement
Completion of background screening, identity verification, or display of badges, verification indicators, or eligibility status does not constitute:
- A. An endorsement or certification by Village Haven;
- B. Confirmation of licensing or qualifications;
- C. A representation of safety or suitability; or
- D. A guarantee of conduct or service quality.
Village Haven does not supervise services or control user conduct. All service relationships exist directly between Users.
6. California Rights Under ICRAA and CCRAA
If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under California law, including:
- A. The right to request disclosure of the nature and scope of an investigative consumer report; and
- B. The right to request a copy of any investigative consumer report prepared about you.

7. Use of Reports and Adverse Action Process
If Village Haven takes action affecting your eligibility or participation on the Platform based in whole or in part on information contained in a consumer report, Village Haven will comply with applicable law, including providing:
- A. A pre-adverse action notice;
- B. A copy of the report relied upon;
- C. A Summary of Rights under the FCRA; and
- D. A reasonable opportunity to dispute inaccuracies.
Final action will occur only after required legal procedures are followed.
Village Haven does not determine report accuracy; disputes must be directed to the reporting agency.
8. User Responsibility for Accuracy
Users are responsible for:
- A. Providing accurate identifying information;
- B. Maintaining current profile data;
- C. Promptly disputing inaccuracies with reporting agencies.
Providing false or misleading information may affect platform eligibility.
9. Multi-State Operation and Non-Waivable Rights
Village Haven operates across multiple jurisdictions. Nothing in this Notice limits rights that cannot be waived under applicable federal, state, or local law.
10. Safety Framework Limitations
Background screening is only one component of Village Haven's safety framework, which may also include identity verification tools, reporting channels, and policy enforcement.
Village Haven:
- A. Does not provide security services;
- B. Does not guarantee safety outcomes;
- C. Does not control user conduct; and
- D. Cannot prevent all harmful activity.
Users remain responsible for safety precautions and lawful conduct.
11. Data Handling and Report Confidentiality
Reports obtained are used solely for lawful platform eligibility and safety purposes and are handled consistent with applicable privacy and data protection laws.
Village Haven may retain screening results as reasonably necessary for compliance, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or legal obligations, subject to applicable law.
